“Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.”
[Albert Einstein]
Solfeggio Frequencies are a collection of musical sounds that originated from the historical Gregorian Monks who chanted different frequency tones during religious practices.
The chanting is named after St. Gregory the Great, who was Pope from 590—604 A.D. The melodic sounds of the Gregorian era are unique with no patterns of rhyme or instrumentals. The tones range high and low and there is often no structure to how they are performed by choirs.
In 1974 Dr. Joseph Puleo studied the Solfeggio Frequencies and said the music penetrates the conscious and subconscious mind. He used a numerological technique to decipher repeating codes that were present throughout the music. The Solfeggio Frequencies are used in the present day in many forms of healing practices across the world. Each frequency tone is said to raise vibration.
The different Solfeggio Frequencies are:- 174 Hz: For the relief of Pain and Stress 285 Hz: Heals Tissues and Organs UT 396 Hz: Eliminates Fear RE 417 Hz: Wipes out Negativity MI 528 Hz: Repairs DNA and Brings Positive Transformation FA 639 Hz: Brings Love and Compassion SOL 741 Hz: Repairs Cells and Organs 852 Hz: Awakens Intuition and Raises Energy at Cellular Level 963 Hz: Connects to Higher Self
All Solfeggio Frequencies are said to have a positive outcome by eliminating negativity and promoting higher connections to the Self.
Below is a video of all 9 Solfeggio Frequencies that promote emotional and physical healing. Wishing all the Blessings of Arunachala Grace and Light.
Below
is a fascinating video made by Praveen Mohan explaining his theory that the Siva
Lingam at Arunachaleswarar Temple is an ancient energy device similar to the
more contemporary Tesla Coil.
After the video, I have included a transcription (available
at his Blog). I have added a third paragraph in red with information about
thara parthiram (special kind of vessel vessel) being placed over the Lingam
during a specific season.
"Hey guys, today I am going to show you a
mysterious phenomenon that is happening in the Arunachalesvara temple in the
town of Tiruvannamalai. This temple is very old, at least 1300 years old, The
unusual thing about this temple is that there is a lingam in the main chamber,
and it emits an enormous amount of heat. Nobody has been able to explain this
until now. Like all Hindu temples, the main idol is situated in the central
chamber inside this temple, but this lingam somehow radiates a lot of heat. As
we approach the main chamber where the lingam is contained, you can feel the
temperature rising. Notice how the entire stone walls have turned completely
black because of constant radiation. You can see multiple fans placed all
around, trying to cool the place down, but the place remains much hotter than
the outside, all the time. It is extremely hot even during winter time inside
the main chamber.
When I visited this temple, Initially, I thought no
one felt the rise in temperature except me, but when I researched this, it has
already been published in multiple newspapers and several websites. Many have wondered
why this is happening. The priests in the temple also confirm this, and told me
that the lingam itself is very hot, it feels like touching a warm cup of
coffee. So they actually use a simple cooling device from time to time, this
cooling system is a vessel is placed on top of the lingam, which slowly drips
cold water to cool the lingam down."
The posting explains the reason why a
water vessel (i.e. thara parthiram) is placed over the Lingam at Shiva Temples
during Kathiri Veyil, which is the period when the Sun (i.e. Surya) passes
through the star Krittika.
"But why is this happening? A stone is capable
of giving out heat energy for many centuries without any power source? This is
impossible, there should be some explanation for this phenomenon. I mean how is
this possible? Locals and priests explain that this radiation is happening
because it is a special type of lingam called the Agni Lingam. Now, what is an
Agni Lingam? Agni Lingam is a stack of energy, a column of fire emitting heat
and light. This unique type of energy is said to be created in the underground
portion of the lingam. What we see here, is just the top of the structure,
there is a large cylindrical column which proceeds underground, which is what
creates the enormous amount of heat. Since the heat produced by the lingam is
very real, is it possible that such a lingam, a cylindrical power source
actually exists underground? If this is true, is it possible that the ancient
builders also carved the entire Agni Lingam in this temple?
Here, we can see a man praying to this large
cylindrical structure. But it does not look like a traditional lingam, it has
many turns, many coils on the cylinder, as though it is wound with wires, and
look at the top, there are thunderbolts coming out in all directions. This is
incredible, because this matches 100% with a modern day Tesla coil. Now, what
is a Tesla Coil? It is a Wireless Power Transfer device, it does not need
wires, but can radiate enormous amount of energy, simply through the air.
Nikola Tesla, an extraordinary inventor created this in 1891 in an attempt to
deliver free energy to the world.
I mean look at the tesla coil. I mean look at the
Tesla coil I am holding. It is a cylinder wound with wires connected to a
battery and we see can see electric arcs which look like thunderbolts coming
out from the top. This is exactly what we see in the carving. Is the Agni
Lingam, an ancient Tesla Coil? How else can you explain this 1300 year old
carving, with coils wound around the cylinder, and thunderbolts coming out from
the top? Tesla coils also create a lot of heat, you can feel the heat rising as
you move your hand closer to it. In fact, it will burn your skin if you touch
it. This is the exact same feeling you get, as we walk closer to the lingam. As
we move towards the lingam, we can literally feel the heat rising. Today, we
have created large Tesla coils for experimental purposes. But did ancient
builders also set up a similar device underground? If so, for what purpose? I
mean ,what could have been the reason to put a large Agni Lingam inside a
temple?
The answer lies in how we use Tesla coils. Today,
Doctors are using Tesla Coils primarily for enhancing the overall well-being of
patients. This procedure, known as electrotherapy not only completely relaxes
the body, but also calms the mind into a deep, meditative state. Was the
ancient Tesla Coil, the Agni Lingam installed here to heal the body and mind of
the visitors? People from around the world come here to practice deep
meditation in this temple. You will experience an unusual calmness in your mind
and your body, when you are in this temple, this is why this area is called the
spiritual capital of the world. Some of the world’s greatest saints attained
enlightenment in this temple. Are all these things mere coincidences, or is it
all because of the therapeutic effect, the effect of radiation coming out of
the lingam?
Did ancient people worship this lingam to gain
physical and mental strength? But if this is the case, then what is the need to
construct such a large temple complex around this lingam? This temple is one of
the largest temples of Lord Shiva, covering about 25 acres. The entire design
and layout of this temple is mindboggling, the most important feature is the
towers. Near the outer walls, Four large temple towers are set up precisely
facing the 4 cardinal direction points.
If the Agni Lingam is a Tesla Coil transmitting
energy, then is what is the need to construct all these gigantic towers?
Perhaps the answer lies in the carving itself. If we count the number of turns
on the Agni Lingam, it has 13 turns. Initially, I thought this was a mere
coincidence but let us count the number of the metal domes, these are called
Kalashas, placed on top of the main tower. There are exactly 13 domes placed on
the top of the tower. This is not a coincidence. Not only that, the tower also
has 13 levels, these rectangular holes are actually doorways to the levels,
there are stairs inside the tower to access every level. If you we count the
doorways, including the one hidden by this signboard, there are 13 doorways and
13 levels. So, this is definitely not a coincidence. If you look at the tower
from the top angle, it looks like a next generation machine. What is the actual
purpose of this gigantic tower? Even after 1300 years, it is still one of the
tallest towers of India. Did you know Nikola Tesla built a gigantic tower,
called the Wardenclyffe tower, in order to give free energy to the world? Tesla
planned on wireless transmission of energy to the whole world, but this entire
facility was destroyed by greedy businessmen. Was this temple also built as a
centre for wireless transmission of energy?
See, if you go to a very high altitude, the entire
temple complex looks similar to a modern day power company, I mean look at the
lay out. There are 4 large towers perfectly aligned to the 4 direction points.
There are smaller towers inside as well. There are water sources which act as a
cooling system, you can see two large tanks always full of water. There are
many separate buildings inside the complex, there are even emergency exits,
just like modern facilities. But perhaps the real secret, the actual power
source itself can be found if we can access the underground, but locked
chambers."
"In
any given year, the winter solstice, the still point, is the most powerful time
of the solar cycle. It is the conception point, the moment in which the plans
for the entire year are generated from the sun to the earth. It is the parallel
point to each new moon which carries and expands the original solar wave's
energy through the thirteen succeeding cycles of the year.
There
are four points during the year in which the archetypal energies of the sun
"come through" to us to bring consciousness along step by step. These
four points are the solstices and the equinoxes.
Each
of these moments, which last three days, are "neutral force" channels
of tremendous power. They are literal doorways to the infinite, alchemical
cauldrons in which we can bathe ourselves with unconditional love and pure
spiritual energy, and into which we can place our intentions. They are
"time-outs" from normal reality.
Whatever
gets cooked in the winter solstice cauldron becomes the blueprint for the
entire year which is reaffirmed and brought along to completion by the other
three central points. If we carefully align with the intentions of the universe
during the winter solstice we can be picked up by the rising tide of spiritual
energy and carried forward, supported by the power which spirit has brought to
earth at the moment of the "rebirth of the sun" when it joins with
the earth.
The
sun and moon are always in a changing relationship with each other and the
earth, the cauldron in which we are always being alternately "cooked"
and "cooled" by them. At the winter solstice; the sun, yang, spiritual,
masculine energy is at its lowest ebb, pausing before it pulses forward just
like the tide having flowed out to sea pauses, and then begins to aggressively
move out toward shore once more. This alignment of the sun with the most inner
and contracted (yin) point in its cycle is the same as the moment of the new
moon in which the sun's yang and moon's yin move into perfect alignment with
each other and the earth, joining and harmonizing their energies with their
combined force.
As
we step into the solstice we should not carry into it with us anything from the
past and instead let the purity of the Oneness fill us and allow the spirit to
decide what is in our highest good. As human beings we have goals, things we
want to create, states we wish to experience. All that can be placed into this
great moment with great passion as our heart's desires and released in trust.

The Great Conjunction
The Solstice is a time where the
veil between dimensions is thin. It is also a time where we are more open and
connected with the energies of the Earth.
In 2020, December 21st, stands out
as being a potent day, not just because of the Solstice, but also due to a very
rare alignment taking place this year known as the Great
Conjunction. The great conjunction occurs every twenty years or so,
and is when both Jupiter and Saturn align at the same degree of the
zodiac. The great conjunction represents a changing of an era, and a time
where we shift our way of viewing the world. As our world view changes, so
too does society and the way we choose to approach things.
While the great conjunction
happens every couple of decades, the 2020 alignment opens the door to an even
bigger cycle. For the last 200 years, Jupiter and Saturn have been
aligning only in earth signs, but this year, on December 21st, 2020, Jupiter
and Saturn will align in the air sign of Aquarius.
The great conjunction is a key
point on this transition into the Age of Aquarius, and is destined to bring
many ‘Age of Aquarius’ themes into our lives. The great conjunctions now
switching to air signs will give us a focus towards the collective, and a more
community-based approach. Humanitarian efforts will be important, and
technology will be favored. We will see more things created online than in the
physical world.
December 21st, 2020 is a good day
to get clear on what you wish to focus on, and to connect with your own
spirituality and heart-focused intentions.
The
Christmas Star
The year 2020 will end with a
special astronomical event: the closest great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn
in 397 years. On December 21, the two planets will almost touch in the sky. As
Jupiter and Saturn will rendezvous just a few days before Christmas forming
what will look like a single bright object in the sky, the 2020 great
conjunction is sometimes also called the “Christmas star” or “Bethlehem star.”
The December 21, 2020 conjunction
will be the closest great conjunction since July 16, 1623. At the great
conjunction of 1623, Jupiter and Saturn were slightly less than 0.1 degrees
apart. However, this event would have been difficult—although not impossible—to
observe since the two planets were near the Sun.
The last time that the two planets
were easily observable when separated by less than 0.1 degrees was almost 800
years ago, during the great conjunction of 1226.

Recently found this fascinating video on You Tube of a sannyasin residing off the Arunachala Girivalam roadway. The Swami popularly known as Vibhutti Siddhar is becoming increasingly well known to both local and visiting devotees to Arunachala.
Will give updates when I get more information on Vibhutti Swami, who currently maintains complete silence (mouna). His ashram (residence) is located almost diagonally opposite the beautiful Raja Rajajeswari Temple off the Girivalam Roadway.
The below video is of group from Russia visiting Sri Siva Jothi Mona Siddhar's Ashram.
After individual interaction with each member of the Group, Swami distributes prasad. The video ends with the Group Leader feeding cake to participants.
This video has absolutely nothing to do with Arunachaleswarar Temple, but am posting it because its lots of fun and very interesting. Have no idea if any or part of the information in the video is true. If any reader has additional data, please leave a comment.
The video concerns 5 mysterious, extraordinary Temples constructed with basic tools and equipment—which makes one wonder exactly how they were constructed.
A reader of the Arunachala Network Blogs wrote asking for information on the meeting of Ramana Maharshi and Paramahansa Yogananda.
In the words of Yogananda the meeting went like this:-
“Before leaving South India, I made a pilgrimage to the holy hill of Arunachala to meet Sri Ramana Maharshi. The sage welcomed us affectionately and pointed to a nearby stack of East-West magazines. During the hours that we spent with him and his disciples, he was mostly silent, his gentle face radiating divine love and wisdom.
To help suffering humanity regain its forgotten state of Perfection, Sri Ramana teaches that one should constantly ask himself: “Who am I?” The great Inquiry indeed. By stern rejection of all other thoughts, the devotee soon finds himself going deeper and deeper into the true Self, and the sidetracking bewilderments of other thoughts cease to arise. The illumined Rishi of South India has written:
Dualities and trinities on something do hang,
Supportless they never appear;
That support searched for, they loosen and fall.
There is the Truth. Who sees that never wavers."
Swami Yogananda asked the following questions:
Yogananda: How is the spiritual uplift of the people to be effected? What are the instructions to be given to them?
Maharshi: They differ according to the temperaments of the individuals and according to the spiritual ripeness of their minds. There cannot be any instruction en masse.
Yogananda: Why does God permit suffering in the world? Should He not with His omnipotence do away with it at one stroke and ordain the universal realisation of God?
Maharshi: Suffering is the way for realisation of God.
Yogananda: Should He not ordain differently?
Maharshi: It is the way
Yogananda: Are yoga, religion etc., antidotes to suffering?
Maharshi: they help you to overcome suffering.
Yogananda: Why should there be suffering?
Maharshi: Who suffers? What is suffering?
Yogananda: No answer.
The swami’s secretary C.R. Wright, asked:
Wright: How shall I realise God?
Maharshi: God is an unknown entity. Moreover, He is external. Whereas the Self is always with you and it is you. Why do you leave out what is intimate and go in for what is external?
Wright: What is this Self again?
Maharshi: The Self is known to everyone but not clearly. The Being is the Self. Of all the definitions of God, none is so well put as the biblical statement, “I am that I am” in Exodus (Chap. 3). Knowing the Self, God is known. IN fact, God is none other than the Self.
[Face to Face with Sri Ramana Maharshi
Ramana Kendram, Hyderabad]
Above is a fascinating short video in which Ramana Maharshi is sitting in the centre with Paramahansa Yogananda and Paul Brunton standing behind him. Which is rather apt as it was the writings of both these personages that brought so many devotees to India on their own spiritual quest.
In Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi the meeting and conversation between Ramana Maharshi and Paramahansa Yogananda goes thus:-
Swami Yogananda with four others arrived at 8.45 a. The group had lunch in the Ashram Mr. C. R. Wright, his secretary, asked:
Wright: How shall I realise God?
Maharshi: God is an unknown entity. Moreover He is external. Whereas, the Self is always with you and it is you. Why do you leave out what is intimate and go in for what is external?
Question: What is this Self again?
Maharshi: The Self is known to everyone but not clearly. You always exist. The Being is the Self. 'I am' is the name of God. Of all the definitions of God, none is indeed so well put as the Biblical statement "I AM THAT I AM" in Exodus (Chap. 3). There are other statements, such as Brahmaivaham, Aham Brahmasmi and Soham. But none is so direct as the name Jehovah = I AM. The Absolute Being is what is - It is the Self. It is God. Knowing the Self, God is known. In fact God is none other than the Self.
Question: Why are there good and evil?
Maharshi: They are relative terms. There must be a subject to know the good and evil. That subject is the ego. Trace the source of the ego. It ends in the Self. The source of the ego is God. This definition of God is probably more concrete and better understood by you.
Question: So it is. How to get Bliss?
Maharshi: Bliss is not something to be got. On the other hand you are always Bliss. This desire is born of the sense of incompleteness. To whom is this sense of incompleteness? Enquire. In deep sleep you were blissful: Now you are not so. What has interposed between that Bliss and this non-bliss? It is the ego. Seek its source and find you are Bliss. There is nothing new to get. You have, on the other hand, to get rid of your ignorance which makes you think that you are other than Bliss. For whom is this ignorance? It is to the ego. Trace the source of the ego. Then the ego is lost and Bliss remains over. It is eternal. You are That, here and now . . . That is the master key for solving all doubts. The doubts arise in the mind. The mind is born of the ego. The ego rises from the Self. Search the source of the ego and the Self is revealed. That alone remains. The universe is only expanded Self. It is not different from the Self.
Question: What is the best way of living?
Maharshi: It differs according as one is a Jnani [knower] or ajnani. A Jnani does not find anything different or separate from the Self. All are in the Self. It is wrong to imagine that there is the world, that there is a body in it and that you dwell in the body. If the Truth is known, the universe and what is beyond it will be found to be only in the Self. The outlook differs according to the sight of the person. The sight is from the eye. The eye must be located somewhere. If you are seeing with the gross eyes you find others gross. If with subtle eyes (i.e., the mind) others appear subtle. If the eye becomes the Self, the Self being infinite, the eye is infinite. There is nothing else to see different from the Self.
He thanked Maharshi. He was told that the best way of thanking is to remain always as the Self.
The Moola Mantra is believed to give peace and joy. It has the power to transport one’s mind to a state of love and joy. It is regarded as a great devotional act and of great benefit to the seeker of truth and enlightenment.

Moola Mantra repeated on loop
Meaning of Moola Mantra
Om—The primordial sound by which the whole Universe vibrates. This Divine sound has the power to create, sustain, and destroy; giving life and movement to all that exists.
Sat—The all-penetrating Existence that is formless, shapeless, and omnipresent; it is the unmanifest experienced as the emptiness of the Universe.
Chit—The infinite Pure Consciousness of the Universe
Ananda—Bliss, love, and the true nature of the Universe
Parabrahma—The Supreme Being in its Absolute aspect; the One who is beyond space and time.
Purushothama—Purusha means Soul, and Uthama means the Supreme Spirit. It is the supreme energy force guiding us from the highest world.
Paramatma—The indweller, the Antaryamin, who resides formlessly and is immanent in every creature and in all beings.
Sri Bhagavathi—Female aspect of the Divine, which is characterised as the Supreme Intelligence in action, the Shakti Power.
Same tha—Together within
Sametha—“together" or "in communion with"
Namaha—Salutation or prostration to the Universe
The Power of Sound
“Sound and intelligence are synonyms. The sound frequencies or mantras have no beginning or end. They are as old as space and the Universe. Many ancient cultures discovered that the mind is made up of subtle energies, in the form of sound frequencies. Ninety percent of our mind is occupied by language-based activity. The mind has a sound pattern; the unconscious has a sound pattern.
These sound frequencies, also known as mantras, are a part of the space energy (the others being earth, water, fire and air). When yogis talk about sounds, it is not the spoken sound they are referring to. Spoken sounds are the gross form of sounds that emerge from the unmanifest levels. The evolution of speech is as follows: first, there is a thought sound (thought also has a sound) called nada and paranada and the thought sound become speech sound.”
The third quadrant of 2014 will be bathed in moonlight as three perigee "supermoons" occur in consecutive months: July, August, September. The just completed poornima (full moon) of July 12, 2014 was the first of three “perigee” moons, nowadays known as “supermoons”. Such moons are around 15% bigger and 30% brighter than an ordinary full moon. The closest supermoon of the year comes with August 10, presenting a moon that’s only 356,896 kilometers (221,765 miles) from Earth.
“Supermoon” is a situation when the moon is closer to Earth in its orbit than on average, and this effect is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon. So, the moon may seem bigger although the difference in its distance from Earth is only a few percent at such times. Full Moons vary in size because of the elliptical (oval) shape of the Moon's orbit. The Moon at its nearest (around 363,000 km) is called a perigee and at its furthest (405,000 km) an apogee. When the time of the perigee aligns with a full or new moon it is called a “Supermoon”.
When the rising full moon is viewed low in the sky, it creates what’s called as a “moon illusion”. For reasons not fully understood by astronomers or psychologists, low-hanging moons look unnaturally large when they beam through trees, buildings and other foreground objects.
Technically speaking, the moon turns full at the instant it lies most opposite the sun for the month. Because the moon stays more or less opposite the sun throughout the night, watch for a full-looking moon in the east at dusk, highest in the sky around midnight and low in the west at dawn. On the nights around the night of full moon, the moon looks full for a few nights.
The geological effects on Earth from a “supermoon” are supposed to be minor according to studies by terrestrial seismologists and volcanologists. Their findings are that the combination of the moon being at its closest to Earth in its orbit, and being in its “full moon” configuration (relative to the Earth and sun), should not affect the internal energy balance of the Earth since there are lunar tides every day. The Earth has stored a tremendous amount of internal energy within its thin outer shell or crust, and the small differences in the tidal forces exerted by the moon (and sun) are not enough to fundamentally overcome the much larger forces within the planet due to convection (and other aspects of the internal energy balance that drives plate tectonics).
All full moons (and new moons) combine with the sun to create larger-than-usual tides, however “supermoons” have even more affect on ocean tides.
Super Moons
Hinduism propounds the idea that the (nine) Navagrahas (of which Chandra = the moon, is one) are 'markers of influence' -- living energies which put out waves which affect our awareness by seizing our consciousness when we come under their influence. Reports of psychics and seers agree that Grahas cause a direct energy influence upon the energy bodies and minds of all life on earth. The nine planets (Navagrahas) are transmitters of Universal, archetypal energy and the qualities of each planet helps maintain the overall balance of polarities in the solar system.
The moon is a powerful influence on the human psyche. During full moons (and even more so during the intense “supermoon” periods) one may feel more restless or experience more turbulent energies.
The sun is the indicator of the soul and the moon is the vehicle of the mind that receives the light of the soul. Even though all the Navagrahas are represented at Arunachala, the moon with its particular association with Lord Shiva (Chandrasekhara) is believed to have an extraordinary and particular influence at this place.

Varuna japam and yagam at Arunachaleswarar Temple was performed on April 28, 2014. The rendition of Varuna Japa whilst immersed in the Arunachaleswarar tank, is a ritual meant to propitiate the rain god (Varuna) to bestow copious rain and banish famine, is also aimed at appeasing the Almighty to ensure common good and world peace.
Homam to propitate the rain Gods
Priests at Temple Tank
Immersion whilst performing Japam
Darshan of Arunachala whilst chanting
Varuna Japa comprises many rituals. Some scholars stand for hours in chest deep water in a Temple tank whilst chanting the Varuna mantra or other mantras. Some perform abhisheka to the Lord's processional deities, others conduct homam to propitiate the rain Gods, do japa or recite the Vedas and sanstras.
God Varuna
Varuna in the Vedas is a powerful God. He is the guardian of cosmic order (rta=rhythm=ruth=truth) and in charge of the oceans, water sources and rains. He is worshipped by seagoing people and fishermen. His vahana (vehicle) is shark fish or crocodile. Tamils have always believed in his control over rains and worshipped him for rains. In this respect one of the oldest Tamil book “Tolkappiam” says he is the God of littoral areas/Neithal.
Lord Varuna with crocodile vahana (vehicle)
On another level Varuna is in charge of West direction, (Lord Indra controls East). Mitra and Varuna are paired in Vedic hymns which to the belief of interpreting them as Day and Night, Sun and Moon, Light and Dark, and Positive and Negative energy. The Tamil saint Agastya (who made a grammar of the Tamil Language) is considered to be the son of Varuna and Urvasi.
In Valluvar’s Tirukkural, it is said:
Couplet 18 "If rains fail, festivals of the year and the daily worship of the gods will cease".
Couplet 19: "Charity and devotional practices will not be observed in the world unless rain falls."
Below is an audio of the proper chanting of Varuna Japam.
Amurya upa surye Yabhirva surya saha Ta no hinvantvadhvaram Apo devirupa hvaye Yatra ghava pibanti na Sindubhya kartva havi
May waters gathered near the Sun, and those wherewith the Sun is joined, speed forth this sacrifice of ours.
I call the Waters, Goddesses, wherein our cattle quench their thirst; oblations to the Streams to be given.
Tat tva yami brahmaa Vandamanastada saste Yajamano havirbhi Ahe amano varueha Bodhyurusasa ma na Ayupra moi
I ask this of thee with my prayer adoring; thy worshipper craves this with his oblation.
Varuna, stay thou here and be not angry; steal not our life from us, O thou world-ruler.

The Science of Mantra
Below is an extract from an illuminating and fascinating exposition on the physics and metaphysics of sound (mantras) by the late Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi.
"If the divisions of labour on a hereditary basis is good for all society, what specifically is the benefit gained from the vocation of Brahmins, that is preserving the Vedas?" is a question frequently asked.
The potter makes pots for you; the washerman launders your clothes; the weaver weaves clothes for you to wear; the cowherd brings you your milk; the peasant tills the land to grow rice for you to cook and eat. Everyone does some work or other essential in the life of everybody else. The rice (or wheat ) grown by the tiller sustains us all. The cloth woven by the weaver is indispensable to our modesty, it is also needed to keep us warm in the cold season. We drink the milk brought by the cowherd and also use it to make buttermilk; we cook our food in the pot made by the potter. We find that all jatis provide commodities useful for the society. What is the Brahmin's contribution in this context? What vocation is assigned to him by the Sastras which are the basis of varna dharma?
